Violence against children – always a tragedy!

Accordingly to the 2011 statistics of the Federal Criminal Police Office in Wiesbaden (Germany), sexual abuse of children increased by nearly four percent. With more than 14,000 victims this comes to 39 abused children per day!

In addition, 17 cases of pedophile pornography were reported per day in 2011. A dramatic increase of +23.3% has been noted in buying and possession of children’s pornography. Statistics only include cases that were brought to trial though – the number of unreported cases is significantly higher.

These figures should shake us all up and have us involved with all our might in the prevention of sexual abuse and violence. These figures should push us to assist the boys and girls as well as teenagers and adults in getting the support they need.

My call for donations was for the BERLIN Marathon on 30th September 2012 and themed “The big Double Up”. In co-operation with the „BETHE Foundation“, we were able to double up donations going to IN CHILDREN’S EYES funds.
“The big Double-Up” was a great chance and motivation for all the donators and especially for on that race-day in Berlin for myself. A field of 35.499 runners started under perfect weather-conditions and about one million enthusiastic spectators at the track inspired all of us. I was so happy and proud that I’ve mastered the classic distance notwithstanding with a time of 03:47:07 – as one of 34.485 finishers.
